Autumn Sky from the Train
(Write a Letter to My Sisters)
Oh the serene sky
Can I be a part of you?
Equal to the land beneath you
Gently floating above
The soft and quiet lake
It catches my breath
This stark autumn beauty
Knowing I have no belonging
And attached to no-one
I’m not building roads or bridges
Just digging further underground
But not finding gold
The sky continues
I will find peace
Who are you sisters?
Where were you then?
I can’t justify my existence
It just never adds up
To: mouths to feed, constant illness
Or disease
